When a subscription payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds, etc.), Nora doesn't give up after one try. It retries with exponential backoff: 3 days later (if first attempt was due to temporary issue), then 5 days later, then 7 days. Between retries, Nora sends the customer an email: 'Your payment failed. Update your card [link] to keep your subscription active.' The link takes them directly to Stripe's customer portal to update payment info—no friction. Typical scenario: 5% of subscription payments fail monthly. Without recovery, 20–30% of failed payments result in churn (customer doesn't care enough to fix it). With retries + notification, 70–80% of failed payments are recovered. For a $10/month SaaS with 1,000 subscribers, this prevents $1,400–$2,100 in annual churn. Nora also sends an admin report: which payment methods are failing (e.g., Visa debit from specific region), so you can investigate larger issues.
